Job description

Purpose of the role:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounting and Controlling Support Specialist to strengthen our Finance and Controlling operations through expert SAP support. This role is critical in driving operational excellence, aligning financial systems with business needs, and supporting international digital transformation initiatives within the SAP ecosystem.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in SAP-supported finance and controlling processes, ensuring high-quality support and functional enhancements.

  • Optimize and harmonize financial processes across business units through automation, standardization, and best practices.

  • Lead and/or support local and global Finance and Controlling projects, ensuring alignment with IT strategies and corporate standards.

  • Act as a central interface among local entities, global finance team, IT, and external service providers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on support and implementation for SAP R/3 (and/or S/4HANA) FI modules (AR, AP, GL, AA) and CO module functionalities (Cost Centers, Profit Centers, Internal Orders, etc.).

  • Resolve incidents and system issues efficiently, acting as a liaison between end users and IT, including root cause analysis and problem resolution.

  • Coordinate configuration, testing, and deployment of changes or new features, ensuring business continuity and data integrity.

  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation, user manuals, and operational guidelines to ensure knowledge transfer and audit-readiness.

  • Lead or contribute to SAP rollouts, upgrades, migrations, and integration projects (e.g., S/4HANA transitions or country-specific legal compliance updates).

  • Monitor compliance with internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX), and support internal and external audits by providing system data and process insights.

  • Deliver structured training to end users and internal teams to foster SAP knowledge and process ownership.

  • Analyze user feedback, system performance, and business needs to propose and implement continuous improvements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, Procurement, Tax, Treasury, etc.) to align SAP capabilities with business objectives.

  • Provide technical input for data interfaces and EDI/integration setups (e.g., XML, IDoc, BAPI).

Personality requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Proven experience (3+ years) with SAP FI/CO in a support or consulting role; exposure to SAP S/4HANA is a strong plus.

  • Solid understanding of finance and controlling processes, including period-end closing, reporting, and cost management.

  • Technical experience with SAP configuration, interface troubleshooting (IDocs, XML), and integration with other SAP modules (e.g., MM, SD).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into business language.

  • Fluent in English; German language skills are advantageous.

  • Experience working in a multinational environment and collaborating with remote teams.


Preferred Skills & Advantages:

  • Familiarity with S/4HANA, Fiori apps, and new-generation SAP architecture.

  • Knowledge of automation tools (e.g. SAP Workflow, Robotic Process Automation).

  • Understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX) and experience supporting audits.

  • Experience with ITSM tools such (e.g. JIRA)

  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum or hybrid project management methodologies.


Working from home is possible as soon as you are fully trained - during probation period and initial handover we require regular presence and working from the office in Nitra. Afterwards presence in person in Nitra twice a month at regular team meetings.
